We use Loxkin for all of our natural wood finishes, whether they’re destined for indoor or outdoor use. Their hemp seed oil is cold-pressed from regeneratively grown, UK hemp. Compared to traditional oils and varnishes, hemp oil penetrates deeply for longer lasting protection against moisture, scratches and UV. This means it’s not only better for us and the environment, it’s also better for the wood. 

The oil soaks into the grain & polymerises to provide a lush appearance with a hard finish, allowing it to naturally protect, nourish & finish wood without discolouring. It also means their products are completely natural & VOC (volatile organic compounds) free, making all of our products food, skin & toy safe.

In their heavily-used life on construction sites, scaffold boards are given stamps as identifiers and arrive with us in whole range of states: paint splattered, rough, smooth, knotted, scarred, stained, clean and everything in between. This means that our finishes are naturally going to differ from board to board. They’re all going to look slightly different!

Like humans, wood is organic matter, and celebrating individuality within society is widely accepted. So our goal is for our customers to celebrate all the unique character and personality of our finished products as we do for each other.

Our raw finish is very simple: it retains all the rough edges, bumps, paint marks, stamps and more from the scaffold boards original use. This finish is perfect if you’ve got the equipment and tools to sand down yourself. Only available with the purchase of raw, reclaimed scaffold boards.

Our smooth finish is the base for all of our other finishes. This means that we carefully sand the scaffold boards down and remove all rough edges whilst retaining unusual knots, scarring and stamps and more from their original us.

This option is OK for products being used indoors if you don’t plan on finishing it yourself. However, to prolong the life of your item we’d highly recommend finishing it. Our indoor and outdoor clear finish allows the all the natural characteristics of the reclaimed scaffold boards to shine through whilst providing protection from the elements. This coat of varnish will help to prolong the life of your product and.

The middle tone, our medium stain is great for spaces which call for darker tones.

Available in both indoor and outdoor depending on where your product will be used, our dark stain offers a warm, rich chocolate option for those looking looking for something to blend in with existing wooden furniture both in the garden or indoors.
